The sun peeked through the trees as Lala, Xuka, and Chip gathered under their favorite shady spot near the garden. It was lunchtime, and although there was no grand feast, today’s meal felt extra special.
Thuy had lovingly prepared a simple picnic: steamed rice, boiled vegetables, and a little dish of grilled peanuts — nothing fancy, but full of care. She even added a few slices of ripe mango for dessert, knowing how much the little ones loved them.
Lala unfolded the checkered cloth while Chip clumsily tried to hold the basket, nearly tipping it over. Xuka giggled, helping him settle it down. The three friends sat cross-legged, eyes shining with excitement.
As they began to eat, they didn’t rush or complain. Lala gently fed Chip a piece of mango, and Xuka passed water to Lala after seeing her cough a little. It was these small acts that made the meal feel more than just food — it was a moment of togetherness.
“Even plain rice tastes yummy when we’re all together,” Lala said with a smile.
“Especially with mango!” Chip added, his cheeks puffed from eating too much at once.
They laughed, wiping their hands and faces with napkins Thuy had packed. After finishing, the trio lay back in the grass, full and happy.
Thuy watched from a distance, her heart full of pride. The scene before her was simple — no expensive meals or toys — just three friends enjoying each other’s company, learning kindness, and appreciating what they had.
