It was a quiet afternoon when Lala noticed something was different. The house, usually filled with laughter and the sound of Bibi’s playful chatter, was strangely silent. She walked around, clutching her soft toy, looking for her best friend. But Bibi was nowhere to be found.
A few moments later, Thuy gently knelt down beside Lala and softly said, “Sweetheart, Bibi isn’t feeling well. He’s very sick and resting at the clinic.”
At first, Lala blinked in confusion. “Sick?” she whispered. Then, as the words sank in, her eyes filled with tears. “Very sick?”
Thuy nodded, her expression full of concern. “Yes, but the doctors are doing their best to help him get better.”
Lala’s tiny shoulders began to shake as she let out a quiet sob. She sat down, curled into a ball, and cried softly. “I didn’t even say goodbye… He didn’t even smile this morning.”
Thuy hugged her gently. “I know, darling. He’s being taken care of. But he needs your strength and love.”
Lala wiped her eyes with her sleeve and asked, “Can I make him something?”
With Thuy’s help, Lala made a small card with a heart and a drawing of the two of them holding hands. She added the words: “Get well soon, Bibi. I miss you so much.”
That night, Lala placed the card near her bed, looking at it before she went to sleep. Though her heart was heavy, she whispered into the darkness, “Please get better, Bibi.”
