Early in the morning, the sun peeked through the trees as Farmer Monkey Bibi tied a little scarf around his head and picked up his tiny bamboo fishing basket. Today was his big fishing day, and he was determined to bring home a feast!
Bibi made his way to the muddy rice pond near the edge of the forest, where the water had just begun to dry after a heavy rain. Small fish were swimming in shallow pools — perfect for catching, but not without a fight. As Bibi stepped into the soft, wet mud, he immediately slipped and fell with a splash!
Covered from head to toe in thick brown mud, Bibi shook himself off and giggled. He wasn’t giving up! With slow and careful steps, he began chasing the slippery little fish. Every time he reached for one, it wiggled away, leaving Bibi flopping and splashing in the muck.
But persistence paid off. After several clumsy attempts, Bibi finally scooped up a handful of fish into his basket. His eyes lit up with excitement, and he proudly held the basket above his head. “Ooh ooh!” he squealed with joy.
Despite falling a few more times, Bibi didn’t mind the struggle. The mud, the chase, and the thrill of the catch made it a day full of laughter and determination.
By the afternoon, his basket was full, and he made his way back home — a muddy mess but a happy little farmer. Uncle Phong welcomed him with a towel and a big laugh. “You’ve worked hard today, Bibi!”
That night, they grilled the fresh fish over a fire, and Bibi enjoyed the reward of his muddy adventure — a delicious dinner and the pride of doing it all himself.
