That morning, the house was unusually quiet. Lala had just woken up from her nap, rubbing her sleepy eyes and stretching her tiny arms. She looked around, expecting to see Thuy nearby with a warm smile and her favorite breakfast. But the room was empty.
Lala walked from room to room, calling softly, “Thuy? Thuy?” Her voice was filled with rising worry. She checked the kitchen, the garden, even behind the couch. No answer. The front door was slightly open, and Lala’s little heart began to beat faster.
A wave of sadness hit her. “Did Thuy leave me?” she thought. Her eyes filled with tears as she sat down in the corner, hugging her favorite blanket tightly. Her tiny lips pouted, and her little fists clenched. “Why did she go without me?” Lala whispered, both sad and angry, not understanding why her beloved Thuy would disappear like that.
Minutes felt like hours. Then suddenly, the front door swung open and in came Thuy, holding a small bag of Lala’s favorite snacks and a brand-new toy. She had only gone to the store quickly, not wanting to wake Lala.
But Lala, with her tear-streaked face, turned away at first. Thuy rushed over, scooping her into her arms with soft kisses and gentle words. “I’m so sorry, Lala. I would never leave you. I love you so much,” Thuy said warmly.
Realizing it had been a misunderstanding, Lala clung to Thuy tightly. Her frown faded, and her big eyes sparkled again. They sat together for a long time, snuggling close, and Thuy promised to always tell Lala when she had to step out.
